SNMR began as a mouse rescue, taking in unwanted pet mice from local shelters, but as the need for small animal rescue in our area increased we expanded our efforts to include rats, gerbils, hamsters, ASFs and spiny mice. We are now a 501(c)(3) rescue and currently have over 30 animals in our care, the majority of which are rats.

Many of the rats we take in are sanctuary rats, coming to us with health or behavior problems that limit their adoptability.  We are a last resort for local shelters when rats end up on the euthansia list (usually due to fear biting), so for many of the rats in our care we are their second chance at life.  All of our animals are provided the safety, medical care, and love that they deserve in a forever home.
