American history is not something to be forgotten, and that includes the life and achievements of Gen. Robert E. Lee, one of this nation's greatest military heroes and a man without whose efforts a reconciliation between North and South would not have been possible.
In New Orleans, however, the beautiful statue in tribute to the General is under attack by radicals who wish to bulldoze our history and heritage, in the childish conceit that we can't learn from things, like the Confederacy, which make us uncomfortable.
We wish to remember Lee, and the lessons his life teaches us. And if those radicals can have their stylized Che Guevara t-shirts by all means let's have one of the General.
