We don't even know where to begin other than utter heartbreak. We pulled Poupette from a high volume kill shelter knowing she had a upper respiratory infection & severe entropic eyes. As we love all of our dogs deeply, what we didn't know is the level of heart filled depth this little half bald, pudgy, eyes only partially opened at times because of how painful they were, snorting, overbred magical little storybook warrior princess would have on our pack. We took her in on 6/30. She was afraid, uncertain. Into a warm home she went. Kids slept on the floor with her, she walked them to the school bus. She had new bows for her hair, toys galore, special food, lush beds, brushes, all the love she deserved plus more. She SAW the world & you could see the change in her stride. She lept off couches, followed birds flying above, looked into your eyes with confidence & innocence all in one. The blind had sight. On September 6th, Poupette's heart stopped twice under anesthesia. We got her back the first time, the second stole her from us. After 15 minutes of all miracles able to be performed, Poupette's body let go. Devastation doesn't do feelings justice. She was only 3. She was the ultimate survivor. We have to believe that the universe knew what she was doing in taking Poupette back to the skies, for this girl was out of this world & we couldn't contain her magic here on Earth. She left us shattered but together we pick up our shattered hearts & beam ALL OF OUR LOVE up with her. Our love will doubt forever be the wind to her flight. Will, thank you for saying "yes" and saving her from dying alone & scared in an overcrowded shelter. Diane & family, no words for the love and loss we share with you. We are beyond grateful for you. We love you. Poupette you ARE our spirit animal, now & forever. You are part of us & there you shall always remain. We honor you with this campaign.
