Hi, my name is Chantel. After a long battle with hair loss and depression, I have decided to go to check out why I was losing hair exponentially fast. I was diagnosed with Scarring Alopecia- an autoimmune disease that causes my fibrous tract to swell and scar my tissues so hair won't grow. I was devastated. In a world where hair has such emphasis on how we see ourselves I was not sure how to really go on. I have decided to go through a very rigorous treatment to possibly regrow my hair and repair my scalp.
I googled Scarring Alopecia and found that it is really rare, and very difficult to treat. With my birthday coming up, I wanted to do something that will benefit others going through the same thing as me.
All proceeds will go to the chairty, Locs of Love. They are commonly known for accepting hair donations to make wigs for cancer and alopecia patients. While I don't have hair to give, I decided to raise money and awareness of this disease.
