Female actors are expected to take anything thrown at them. They are expected to be docile and quiet and follow what their male counterparts say. Many actors as of late have come forward in the past few years to talk about the abuse that they have suffered at the hands of a male director.
Acting is a taxing experience, it affects your mind, body, and soul, and for a director to take advantage of a rising female actor is a disgrace. Many actresses such as Shelley Duvall (The Shining), Lea Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color), and Maria Schneider (Last Tango In Paris) have all come forward to talk about the atrocities that they suffered through during filming.
As an actor myself, I see the trends continuing with the next generation of young male film directors and I would like it to stop.
Please assist me in stopping the trend of male directors getting away with abusing the female actors in their films for the sake of "art". Art and abuse are not the same. It is called acting - not reacting. Trust that the females that you hired can do their jobs.
