What's “Permaculture?”
Permaculture is a design science that includes many scientific disciplines with the aim to create healthy, abundant ecosystems that aren't merely sustainable—they're actively regenerative by design and things improve with time, not degrade.
What's Permanent Agriculture?
The word “Permaculture” was coined by Australians Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the 20th century, as a portmanteau of the words “permanent” and “agriculture”, though J Russell Smith subtitled his 1929 book, Tree Crops, “A Permanent Agriculture.” Free download here; it's in the public domain.
